Support
You will be answered by the person who wrote the app. Usually within a day; weekends can take longer. If something broke, do write - most things can be fixed, and the ones that cannot are still worth knowing about.
From inside the app
Settings → Support
This way the message arrives together with the installation number: we can see the app version and the store straight away, with nothing to ask back. The answer arrives in the app too.
By email
For when the app is already deleted, or writing from it is awkward. The form below will put the letter together for you, with what we need in order to answer properly the first time.
Put a letter together
Nothing is sent anywhere until you press the button: the form only assembles the letter and opens your mail app. You can also just copy the text.
Common questions
Evening reminders do not arrive
First check that notifications are allowed for Tessera in the phone’s settings, and that “do not disturb” is off.
On Android reminders use an inexact alarm - they arrive within a few minutes of the time you set. That is not a fault: exact alarms are granted by Google only to alarm clocks and calendars, and a diary does not qualify.
If reminders disappeared entirely after a reboot, open the app once and the schedule will be restored.
What happens to my diary if I lose the phone?
The diary is stored on the phone itself and never reaches us - that is both the protection and the risk. So keep a copy: Settings → Export data saves a file you can put anywhere.
There is also a cloud copy: it is encrypted on your phone before it is sent, and we cannot read it - the key is derived from a recovery code that stays with you.
I lost the recovery code for the cloud copy
Sadly there is nothing we can do here, and that is not an excuse: we genuinely do not have the key. The copy was encrypted on your phone, the server only ever received an encrypted file, and nobody can decrypt it without the code - including us.
That is a property of the design, not a policy. It is the other side of the fact that no stranger can read your diary either.
How do I delete my data?
Entries, photos and voice notes live on the phone - you erase those yourself, and we are not involved. Everything else is deleted on request.
Step by step: deleting your data - it also says what exactly is deleted, what is kept and for how long.
Does the app replace a therapist?
No. Tessera is a diary, not a medical device: it makes no diagnosis and prescribes no treatment. Reports show links between your own entries - that is an observation, not a conclusion.
If you feel unwell, see a specialist. A diary can help that conversation, but not replace it.
